Social Media Policy

This Social Media Policy is a guideline for the use of social media in which our company officially publishes content, which can be commented upon, or forwarded and/or processed. This applies to both, b+m-internal media (employee blog) as well as to public platforms like Facebook, XING, YouTube etc.

Social networks enjoy tremendous popularity, since they offer a large number of possibilities to communicate privately or professionally with other persons all over the world. We, too, use various social media platforms to communicate with employees, customers, applicants and the wider public at large.

We look forward to your contributions, comments, evaluations, links etc. and expressly welcome your involvement. However, there are certain rules of conduct that apply, and they are summarised below.

  • It's not what you say but how you say it

Always be polite, obliging and discrete. A respectful attitude is a must - even towards those having different opinions.

  • Be genuine

In your contributions, always identify yourself properly, i.e. use your complete name or clearly identifiable short name. If required, add the company name, your title or your function/department. Users with pseudonyms can add their names at the end of a contribution. If you are expressing your personal opinion with regard to b+m or your work, or if your contribution exclusively represents your personal opinion only, please state this clearly.

  • Create some value addition

Your contribution or comments should add meaningful value to the topic. It is better to publish completely off-topic content on other, better suited platforms.

  • Accept responsibility

Remember that you are always responsible for your own contributions. What you publish can be read by very many persons, depending on the platform. These could be your co-workers, superiors at work, customers or even journalists etc.

  • Be open about errors or criticism

To err is human. And criticism is not always constructive. Do not simply change or delete faulty contributions, or those with negative responses, but handle them proactively and constructively. Internal criticism - no matter whether justified or not - must, however, remain internal.

  • Do not disclose any confidential data

The publication of company secrets or other sensitive data is, of course, taboo.

  • Pay attention to the applicable laws

Always respect and keep in mind the rights of the users and third parties who are not involved. Before sending off a contribution, check it for copyright and personal rights.

  • Notice for b+m employees

Please keep in mind that this Social Media Policy is secondary to other guidelines or regulations of
b+m surface systems GmbH, such as the obligation to maintain data confidentiality.

We shall avoid, to the maximum possible extent, steps like moderating contributions or deleting them. However, we do reserve the right to do so without specifying any reasons whatever - especially in case of repeated or serious infractions of this
Social Media Policy.
